Moving to Singapore with a young family with an established life and career has been exciting and daunting in equal measure! Although having the advantage of a Singaporean wife and having spent a fair amount of our holidays in Singapore over the years has made the transition easier, the switch from public sector hospitals to private practice has also generated significant new challenges.

The great thing about working as a doctor is that the profession is always moving forward and for us as doctors this presents us with great opportunities to expand our knowledge and skills but also the challenge of keeping up to date. Migrating to a new country and new medical system has meant adapting to the realities of insurance coverage and the direct costs that can be borne by patients for their healthcare.

Whilst the medical practice and conditions we see in the gynaecology clinic are very similar worldwide, there are nuances of practice, patient expectations and available services and medications that mean there is always something new to see, do and learn.

I always hope to offer my patients the very best of medical advice. Working here in Singapore, with its sophisticated healthcare systems and the desire from patients to receive high quality, personalised medical care means that private practice works well and can focus on patients' individual needs.
